Building Awareness of Enhanced Workplace Performance (Bop! Making Sense of Space) was a 2 year Technology Strategy Board funded project.
The £1m research project consisted of a collaboration between Central Saint Martins, ARUP, Brunel University, Imperial College, Tanaka Business School, Maoworks, Artifical Tourism, Spy and AP Futures.
The aim of the project was to consider how well workplaces and users fit together, using sensor technology to determine environmental states and user mood. Using a variety of sensor networks. The project resulted in the creation of a number of interactive devices.
It concluded with the Creative Workplace Conference held at CSM which brought together industry professionals and academics from a variety of sectors. The event focussed on discussions around how workplaces can be created to accommodate the changing needs of users and the organisation. Focusing on ecology, polity, economics, community, and individuality, eminent speakers from Dr Frank Duffy to representatives from the Home Office and Gensler considered the pertinent issues in workplace design.
